About the Young Eagles Program EAA wants to offer everyone between the ages of ages 8 and 17 an opportunity to fly in a private airplane with a qualified pilot. It’s safe. It’s fun. It’s free. And it’s fantastic!
The Young Eagles Program was launched on July 31, 1992. Since then more than 1 million young people have received an airplane ride through the program. More than 34,000 EAA members have volunteered their time and aircraft to participate as Young Eagle Flight Leaders (pilots).
Chapter 25 and the Young Eagles Program
Chapter 25 has participated in the Young Eagles program since it’s inception. In 2004 alone our volunteer pilots and ground crew coordinated over 250 free rides for local Twin Cities kids. We have regular Young Eagle events the third Saturday of every month at the Airlake airport in Lakeville – just 20 minutes south of downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. We are also happy to schedule other events for school, church, Cub Scout or Boy Scout events.
