Wednesday, January 15, 2014 – Chapter 25 Meeting – Instructor Dan Lutgen, and two students, Brandon and Leah, from the Canby High School Aviation Dept. will tell us how they won the General Aviation Manufacturer Association (GAMA) virtual aviation design challenge which earned them an expenses paid trip to the Glasair manufacturing plant in Arlington, WA where they built two airplanes in two weeks under Glasair’s two weeks to taxi (TWTT) program.

In addition, Dr. Randle S. Corfman is coming to teach us “Survival Medicine for Aviators”, and about the newly formed Minnesota Pilots Association. The Minnesota Pilots Association’s aim is to serve as an organization which brings together members of EAA, AOPA, flying clubs, 99′s, etc., in order to generate a more active voice in matters pertaining to pilots and general aviation in Minnesota.

Saturday, January 18, 2014 – Young Eagle Event – Contact Kris Olson, Young Eagles Coordinator, to volunteer to help with the Young Eagles. Ground crew workers are always needed. Kris will put you to work as a pilot’s assistant or as a teacher of aviation principles to kids.

Wednesday Evenings*, – Ch. 25 Pietenpol Build Project – All Chapter 25 members are invited to come and work on the Ch. 25 Pietenpol Building Project. Learn the art and craft of building a homebuilt airplane from Ch. 25 members who have hours of experience building airplanes. We are working at Dale Johnson’s (MAHOF) shop. Contact Kim V. Friday and Saturday, March 21-22, 2014 – First Annual Great Minnesota Aviation Gathering – The Minnesota Pilots Association is hosting the First Annual Great Minnesota Aviation Gathering at the Golden Wings Air Museum on March 21-22, 2014. All aviation enthusiasts are invited.

Directions to the Chapter 25 Hangar at Airlake:

From I-35 and Co. Rd. 70 (210th St. W): South on I-35 to Hwy 70 (Megastop), then East on Co. Ro. 70 (210th St. W.) to Hamburg Ave. (3rd stop light/sign). Turn right (South) and go approx. 1 mi. straight to the airport entrance. Turn left (east) on the first hangar access road as you enter the airport (essentially an immediate left), then turn right on Hotel Lane. The hangar lane names are in alphabetical order beginning with Alpha and are labeled on the eastern edge of the hangar facing the access road. If the surface is dry, please park on the grass between hangars.

From Cedar Ave. and Co. Rd. 50 (Lakeville Blvd): Go south on Cedar Ave. Turn right (west) on 215th St. W. Turn left (South) and go approx. 1 mi. straight to the airport entrance. Turn left (east) on the first hangar access road as you enter the airport (essentially an immediate left), then turn right on Hotel Lane. The hangar lane names are in alphabetical order beginning with Alpha and are labeled on the eastern edge of the hangar facing the access road. If the surface is dry, please park on the grass between hangars.
