Dale Johnson and others are building -rebuilding -two CG4 gliders. They currently have parts for about 3 1/2 gliders. The project is in a warehouse in Eagan off of Lone Oak Road. Dale is building ribs and tail feather in his shop at home. If you are interested in more information call Dale at 952 890 3905.
Check out these amazing photos provided by Steve Adkins:
- front view Windows are “toe” windows (my name) … light panel is built-up floor
- another view
- inside view … note clamped mid rib through “toe” window
- cliché … stack of mid ribs … sorry, but the nose ribs were already delivered
- Dale’s clever low-cost clamps. Note: form defines the outside profile (Dale points out many builder forms define the profile from inside. If your wood varies in thickness, then your parts will be a different size.
- stove top boiler for bending rudder and fuselage parts
- close-up
- view through window
- similar view on new part (see below)
- detail on old original part shipped up from Texas
- Finished lower-front pilot pod fairing. Note Renegade Iceboat trailer in the background
- Only 37 pounds (note scale through opening in bottom)
- inside view with good view of floor panels
- close view of bottom detail
- ever elusive Dale … “I do windows too.”
